Jewelry Design by Thu Luu

“I started the Jewelry Design Certificate Program with no experience in working with metals. It has been such a journey! I’ve been creating and working at the bench, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to study at Lorenzo de’ Medici!”

For this project our task was to make a demi parure made out of wax which would be cast in silver, using the lost wax method.

My idea was to create a necklace, a ring and a pair of earring inspired by clouds

“It was not easy to figure out how I wanted my jewelry as clouds, but my teacher Maria Walker was of great help. She had me experimenting with different techniques and I ended up using my own fingerprints as the motif of clouds, by pressing my finger into melted wax.”
