Study Abroad Housing Costs 2019-2020
Student Apartment Housing
Housing costs include coverage of utility costs up to $75. Utility expenses above $75 will be charged to student residents.
Please note: a $300 housing safety deposit is to be added and will be refunded to students after the students’ departure, if no damages are found to the apartment.

* Academic Year housing placement is for exact dates of the programs. Students must vacate between program sessions. Students who are enrolled for the Academic Year may store luggage/belongings between sessions. LdM will assist students in finding storage and students will pay storage provider directly on site.

Study Abroad Health Insurance 2019-2020
This supplemental insurance through GeoBlue is required of students who do not have alternate, comparable coverage. Although it is not included in the Tuition Cost, it is included in the Total Program Cost below. Please contact LdM Academic Relations + Student Services for questions regarding coverage and policy information.

Students attending Summer Programs may wish to enroll in non-credit Italian wine or cuisine courses for an additional fee.
Extra Non-credit Course Fees for Summer Programs 2020 in Florence:
Cuisine (2hrs./wk. = 8 hrs. total): $520
Wine Tasting (2 hrs./wk. = 8 hrs. total): $550

Study Abroad Payment Policies 2019-2020
All payments are payable to “Lorenzo de’ Medici, Inc.” and mailed to:

Upon acceptance to LdM, students must pay:
• $500 Initial Program Payment (toward tuition/insurance)
PLUS
• Semester/Academic Year: $1500 Housing Advance ($300 housing deposit and $1200 advance rent payment) if securing student apartment through LdM
• Summer/Intersession: Housing Payment ($300 housing deposit plus full rent for session, if securing student apartment through LdM). See Housing Booklet for specific costs per site.
• Half of program cost due by application deadline.
• Final half of program cost due on final program payment deadline.
• If students apply on or after the application deadline but before the final program payment deadline, they must pay half of the program cost, including Housing Advance-Semester/Academic Year or Housing Payment-Summer/Intersession, if securing student apartment through LdM, upon application.
• If students apply on or after the program payment deadline, they must submit the program cost in full upon application, including Housing Deposit/Payment if securing student apartment through LdM.
• All students must submit the initial program payment and housing advance (if applicable), but program balances (or a portion thereof) may be paid upon disbursement of financial aid, provided LdM has received both verification of anticipated aid from the home institution and a personal guaranty.
• Payment plans for semester and academic year programs may be established for a fee of $130. An approved payment plan may extend the final payment deadline to mid-term or earlier specified date.
• If a student’s application is denied, all deposit and payments will be refunded in full.
TUITION CANCELLATION POLICY FOR ALL TERMS
IF AN OFFICIAL CANCELLATION NOTICE IS RECEIVED BY LdM:
• Prior to the 45 days preceding the program start date, the $500 initial tuition payment can be refunded net of bank fees.
• 45-31 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for the $500 initial tuition payment.
• 30-0 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for half of the tuition cost.
• If the student withdraws after the start of the program, liability amounts to full tuition and no refund will be made.
• The student will be fully liable for the total tuition cost if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before the start of the program.
HOUSING CANCELLATION POLICY FOR SEMESTER PROGRAMS
• Any cancellation must be communicated in a written withdrawal form which can be requested. Please remember that once the student arrives in Italy, no refund will be made for any reason whatsoever in the event of a student deciding to cancel change or vacate an assigned apartment.
• If a student cancels 45 days or MORE prior to the check-in date, the $300 security deposit and $1200 advance of the rent payment will be refunded.
• If a student cancels 44-31 days preceding the check-in date, the student will lose the security deposit (US$300) but will be refunded the $1200 advance of the rent payment.
• 30-11 days preceding the check-in date, the student is liable for the $300 security deposit and $1200 advance of the rent payment.
• If a student cancels 10-0 days preceding the check-in date – or fails to check-in to his or her housing assignment – the student is responsible for the full rental amount of the accommodation for the entire academic term.
• The student will be fully liable for the total housing cost and housing deposit if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before check-in.
Please be aware that the $300 security deposit and housing rent are not kept by LdM but retained by the landlord to partially cover the loss of the occupant.
Housing cancellation policy above applies to the student’s apartment option. Please refer to the LdM Housing Booklet for policies applicable to alternate housing options.
HOUSING CANCELLATION POLICY FOR SHORT-TERM PROGRAMS (SUMMER AND JANUARY INTERSESSION)
• Any cancellation must be communicated in a written withdrawal form which can be requested. Please remember that once the student arrives in Italy, no refund will be made for any reason whatsoever in the event of a student deciding to cancel change or vacate an assigned apartment.
• If a student cancels 45 days or MORE prior to the check-in date, the $300 security deposit and full rent payment will be refunded.
• If a student cancels 44-15 days preceding the check-in date, the student will lose the security deposit (US$300) but will be refunded the full rent payment.
• If a student cancels 14-0 days preceding the check-in date – or fails to check-in to his or her housing assignment – the student is responsible for the full rental amount of the accommodation for the entire academic term.
• The student will be fully liable for the total housing cost and housing deposit if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before check-in.

LdM HOUSING WITHDRAWAL POLICY
Students deciding to withdraw from their housing assignment during the academic term are eligible to receive a housing deposit refund following a checkout inspection of their housing accommodation. Housing deposit refunds are processed 45-days following the end of the academic term.
• The student will be required to vacate his or her LdM housing assignment within 24-hours of completing the LdM Withdrawal Form.
• The student is required to follow LdM check out procedures.
• The student is responsible for paying all housing debts and will be eligible to receive a refund of his/her housing deposit 45-days following the end of the academic term.
• Eligibility for housing deposit refund will be based on inspection of the apartment at time of check out.
• LdM reserves the right to withhold the release of transcripts until all debts (if any) are paid.
