Please note: a $300 housing security deposit is to be added. The LdM housing security deposit will be refunded (minus any damages) no sooner than 60 days following the conclusion of the term. In some cases, fees for special cleaning or charges for excessive utility consumption may also be deducted.

Certificate Program Payment Policies

The payment policies and procedures for US credit-seeking students may vary according to the enrollment path and/or billing arrangement with the student’s home institution, if applicable.

Please consult your enrollment office or home institution (if applicable) for further details regarding payment and deadlines.

Housing Payments *

All students requesting LdM Housing who are individually billed by LdM for housing should expect to submit their housing payment as outlined below:

• Semester/Academic Year:
  • If requesting student apartment through LdM, a $1,500 housing reservation payment ($300 housing deposit and $1,200 advance rent payment) is due with the Housing Application. The housing rent balance is due prior to program start and according to the deadline provided.
  • If requesting home stay through LdM, a 1000 Euro reservation payment is due with the Home Stay Application. The home stay balance is due prior to program start and according to the deadline provided.
• Summer/Intersession:
  • If requesting student apartment through LdM, the full housing payment ($300 housing deposit plus full rent for session) is due with the Housing Application.
  • If requesting home stay through LdM, the full home stay cost in Euro is due with the Home Stay Application.

Tuition Payments 

All students who are individually billed by LdM for their tuition cost will receive a tuition invoice following their admission to LdM. Tuition is due prior to program start and according to the deadline provided.

 Note:

• Students individually billed by LdM who are relying on financial aid must pay the housing payment required with their Housing Application. However, they may be eligible to defer payment of their program balance (tuition and rent balance), or a portion thereof, until their aid is disbursed. In such cases, the student must notify LdM of their intent to use financial aid and provide verification of anticipated aid from the home institution. (Students requesting home stay through LdM must pay their housing balance in full according to the home stay payment deadline specified, as deferment is not possible.)
• Payment plans for semester and academic year programs may be established for a fee of $130. An approved payment plan may extend the final payment deadline to mid-term or earlier specified date.

2025-2026 CANCELLATION POLICIES

TUITION CANCELLATION POLICY 2025-2026

IF AN OFFICIAL CANCELLATION NOTICE IS RECEIVED BY LdM:

• 45-31 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for $500 tuition.
• 30-1 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for half of the tuition cost.
• If the student withdraws after the start of the program, liability amounts to full tuition and no refund will be made.
• The student will be fully liable for the total tuition cost if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before the start of the program.

HOUSING CANCELLATION POLICY FOR SEMESTER PROGRAMS 2025-2026

• Any cancellation must be communicated in a written withdrawal form which can be requested. Please remember that once the student arrives in Italy, no refund will be made for any reason whatsoever in the event of a student deciding to cancel, change or vacate an assigned apartment.
• If a student cancels 76 days or MORE prior to the check-in date, the $300 security deposit and $1,200 of the rent payment will be refunded.
•  If a student cancels 75-61 days preceding the check-in date, the student is liable for the security deposit ($300) but will be refunded the advance rent payment ($1,200).
•  If a student cancels 60-21 days preceding the check-in date, the student is liable for the security deposit ($300) and the advance rent payment ($1,200).
•  If a student cancels 20-0 days preceding the check-in date – or fails to check-in to his or her housing assignment – the student is responsible for the full rental amount of the accommodation and the security deposit for the entire academic term.
• The student will be fully liable for the total housing cost and housing deposit if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before check-in.

Given the costs paid to external housing providers on behalf of the students are non-recoverable, refunds beyond those outlined above are not possible, regardless of reason.

HOUSING CANCELLATION POLICY FOR SHORT-TERM PROGRAMS (JANUARY INTERSESSION AND SUMMER SESSIONS) 2025-2026

• Any cancellation must be communicated in a written withdrawal form which can be requested. Please remember that once the student arrives in Italy, no refund will be made for any reason whatsoever in the event of a student deciding to cancel change or vacate an assigned apartment.
• If a student cancels 46 days or MORE prior to the Housing Check-In date, the $300 security deposit and full rent payment will be refunded.
• If a student cancels 45-15 days preceding the Housing Check-In date, the student will lose the security deposit (US $300) but will be refunded the full rent payment.
• If a student cancels 14-0 days preceding the Housing Check-In date – or fails to check-in to his or her Housing assignment – the student is responsible for the full rental amount and the security deposit of the accommodation for the entire academic term.
• The student will be fully liable for the total Housing cost and security deposit if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before Housing Check-In.
