The portfolio includes four projects which three of them relate to the corona virus and how that is affecting the world around us. In brief, there is Stay Home & Cuddle with the Quilt Your Grandma Made You, a repetitive pattern design representing the corona virus in its virus form. A typography A4 poster with the words “Take Care and Please Dispose of the Supplies Properly” to bring awareness to the pollution occurring in our oceans. While there are less people driving around, the oceans are being polluted with faces masks and gloves. Keep the Beaches Closed, a vintage poster/shirt design which relates to the recent news of states opening up the beaches way too early. Lastly, my Self-Portrait Resume in which I used the R2 grid to place and balance the content on a 21 x 29.7 cm A4 page that consist of my graduating year, publications I‟ve been in, and exhibition shows I‟ve participated in. For the folding I was inspired by the inspiration examples shown in the meeting. My concept was to use the phrase “If you can’t go outside, go inside” to refer to the psychological aspect related to the current global pandemic. Since we can’t go outside, we should try and use this time for ourselves and our spirituality. I also wanted this slogan to be a parallel meaning for the concertina to engage the viewer and see what there is “inside”. I used this picture of a woman with the flowers as a symbolism of our thoughts and our growth during this period. Once the concertina is opened you can see many different quotes from spiritual mentors and other people that I chose as a nice food for thought for ourselves during this difficult period. I decorated it with flowers and different colours for each quotation mark. I chose this colored background to showcase positivity and sunshine. I wrote words around me that are encouraging and things that I tell myself in times of negativity and when insecurities spike in my life.JOURNAL 238 239 JOURNAL I wanted to create three pictograms which showed the story of me being in Florence, being so happy and having to leave so abruptly. I made some changes from my first draft as I wanted to use different objects and places that remarked more Florence and that could communicate a little bit more. The first pictogram is a suitcase, this was chosen to represent how I got to Florence. The second one is the Dome. This one is very special to me. I decided to use this one to represent how in love I was with the city, I walked by the Dome everyday and I appreciated its magnitude and greatness, I couldn’t believe I had this amazing piece of art just meters away from me. Lastly, I chose a plane to represent how I left Florence so soon, since I remember how hard it was for me to get in the plane, go through all these security guidelines because of COVID19, just to get home, it was a hard experience. All of these pictograms are made with squares, wanting to represent all of the tiny moments and feelings that of behind the design of this pictograms. I chose to use J. Ittens Theory of contrast of saturation on them to create a more aesthetic look. The golden section was also used to design its anatomy on all of them.
