The Orb Pavillion is a multi sensational pavilion that seeks to change the common perspective of metal. Metal is known as a strong, stiff and sturdy material, however metal and the different processes it can go through gives a variety of finishes and textures for this material making it even go from a stiff and strong piece to an almost fabric. The orb pavilion is covered with a cobalt blue metal mesh wrapping around the structure giving a sensation of being in a completely different place. In this world we can find multiple artists who have created structures or object made out of metal that resemble a completely different material, this is why I chose metal mesh for this pavillion, to remember the variety of uses it can have breaking from the common view of strong and sturdy big metal pieces. A very important thing to remember is the simplicity of the design and the lack of ornamentation, the reason behind this is because metal is a highly versatile material capable of creating and enhancing the sensa- tions, therefore the main point of this structure is to let the material shine as bright as possible in terms of its properties. The design presented follows directly the essence of nature through the materials, the shapes and the space with elements of very strong character and personality. The elements used are energetic which contrast strongly whith each other, but at the same time, create an atmosphere of harmony. The development of the design process was divided by many stages. At the beginning, all the actual site information was given to me, together with the client profile. From that point, I started generating the main concept of the store. For this project, I worked for a jewelry brand named Jenna Blake. It was a very interesting product, because all the pieces seamed unique and special, like art. That´s why I took this approach for my design. I wanted the pieces to be the center of the store. This way the clients could enjoy them. To achieve this, I decided to create a contrast. I selected a minimal but sophisticated concept that could contrast with the extravagant and detailed jewelry designs. I divided the store in main areas that, together, could completely change the customer experience and the way the client interacts with the pieces. The first room located next to the entrance is dedicated to the highlights. The second area is a minimal, but well illuminated room that is inspired in an art gallery. The back room feels like a completely atmosphere, where the clients can try and buy the jewelry.
