The following cost information applies to the Certificate Program, including Semester Certificates, One-Year Certificates, and One-Year Professional/Advanced Certificates. For the LdM Italy Study Abroad Program costs, please click here.
Costs are dependent upon program and housing selection. We encourage students coming from an affiliate institution to contact their Study Abroad office regarding enrollment costs.
Please be sure to read carefully all conditions regarding your selections. Dates refer to arrival/departure, for more information please consult the academic calendar.
Certificate Programs (Year 1) are for students with no prior knowledge in the selected field. Professional/Advanced Certificate Programs (Year 2) are for student with a solid background in the selected field.

Payment and Cancellation Policies
Upon acceptance to LdM, students should expect to pay the following: *
- $500 Initial Program Payment (toward tuition)
PLUS:
- Semester/Academic Year:
- If requesting student apartment through LdM, $1500 Housing Advance ($300 housing deposit and $1200 advance rent payment)
- If requesting home stay through LdM, 1000 Euro reservation payment
- Summer/Intersession:
- If requesting student apartment through LdM, Housing Payment ($300 housing deposit plus full rent for session)**
- If requesting home stay through LdM, full rent payment in Euro**
- Half of program cost by the application deadline.
- Final half of program cost by the final program payment deadline.
Note:
- If students apply on or after the application deadline but before the final program payment deadline, they must pay half of the program cost, including any applicable housing payments, upon acceptance to the program.
- If students apply on or after the program payment deadline, they must submit the program cost in full, including any applicable housing payments, upon acceptance to the program.
- All students must submit the Initial Program Payment and Housing Advance (if applicable), but program balances (or a portion thereof) may be paid upon disbursement of financial aid, provided LdM has received both verification of anticipated aid from the home institution and a personal guaranty. (Students requesting home stay through LdM must pay their housing balance in full according to the home stay payment deadline specified, however.)
- Payment plans for semester and academic year programs may be established for a fee of $130. An approved payment plan may extend the final payment deadline to mid-term or earlier specified date.
*This payment schedule applies to students enrolling through LdM Academic Relations + Student Services and may vary according to the billing arrangement with the student’s home institution. Applicants will receive specific payment instructions upon acceptance to the program.

TUITION CANCELLATION POLICY FOR FALL 2021 CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS
IF AN OFFICIAL CANCELLATION NOTICE IS RECEIVED BY LdM:
• 30-16 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for $500 tuition.
• 15-0 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for half of the tuition cost.
• If the student withdraws after the start of the program, liability amounts to full tuition and no refund will be made.
• The student will be fully liable for the total tuition cost if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before the start of the program.
• Depending on the Covid-19 pandemic evolution and consequent Covid-19 related Institutional and/or Government regulations onsite, students will transition to the distance learning model or hybrid model onsite and will not be eligible for a tuition refund.
TUITION CANCELLATION POLICY
IF AN OFFICIAL CANCELLATION NOTICE IS RECEIVED BY LdM:
- prior to the 45 days preceding the program start date, the $500 initial tuition payment can be refunded net of bank fees.
- 45-31 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for the $500 initial tuition payment.
- 30-0 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for half of the tuition cost.
- If the student withdraws after the start of the program, liability amounts to full tuition and no refund will be made.
- The student will be fully liable for the total tuition cost if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before the start of the program.
TUITION CANCELLATION POLICY FOR YEAR CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS FALL 2021 AND SPRING 2022
IF AN OFFICIAL CANCELLATION NOTICE IS RECEIVED BY LdM:
- 30-16 days prior to the beginning of the Fall semester, the student will be liable for the $500 initial tuition payment.
- 15-0 days prior to the beginning of the Fall semester, the student will be liable for half of the Fall semester tuition cost.
- If the student withdraws after the start of the Fall semester, liability amounts to full tuition of the Fall semester plus the $500 initial tuition payment for the Spring semester.
- 30-0 days prior to the beginning of the Spring semester, the student will be liable for half of the Spring semester tuition cost.
- If the student withdraws after the start of the Spring semester, liability amounts to full tuition of the Spring semester and no refund will be made.
- The student will be fully liable for the total tuition cost if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before the start of the program.

TUITION CANCELLATION POLICY FOR ALL TERMS INCLUDING SEMESTER CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS
IF AN OFFICIAL CANCELLATION NOTICE IS RECEIVED BY LdM:
- prior to the 45 days preceding the program start date, the $500 initial tuition payment can be refunded net of bank fees.
- 45-31 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for the $500 initial tuition payment.
- 30-0 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for half of the tuition cost.
- If the student withdraws after the start of the program, liability amounts to full tuition and no refund will be made.
- The student will be fully liable for the total tuition cost if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LDM before the start of the program.
HOUSING CANCELLATION POLICY FOR FALL 2021:
If an official cancellation notice is received from LdM
- If a student cancels 45 days or MORE prior to the Housing Check-In date, no penalty will be applied.
- If a student cancels 44-31 days preceding the Housing Check-In date, the student will lose the security deposit ($300).
- If a student cancels 30-14 days preceding the Housing Check-In, the student is liable for the $300 security deposit and 25% of the total rent
- If a student cancels 15-8 days preceding the Housing Check-In, the student is liable for the $300 security deposit and 50% of the total rent
- If a student cancels 7-0 days preceding the Housing Check-In date – or fails to check-in to his or her housing assignment – the student is responsible for the full rental amount of the accommodation and the security deposit for the entire academic term.
- The student will be fully liable for the total Housing cost and security deposit if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before Housing Check-In date.
The LdM Fall 2021 Housing Cancellation Policy allows for a later cancellation than the standard policy. Given the costs paid to external housing providers on behalf of the students are non-recoverable, refunds beyond those outlined above are not possible, regardless of reason (including but not limited to those related to COVID).
Housing withdrawal policy
Students deciding to withdraw from their housing assignment during the academic term remain liable for their total housing cost. When formally withdrawing from LdM Housing during an academic term, however, students are eligible to receive a security deposit refund following a checkout inspection of their Housing accommodation. Security deposit refunds are processed 45-days following the end of the academic term.
- The student will be required to vacate his or her LdM Housing assignment within 24-hours of completing the LdM Withdrawal Form.
- The student is required to follow LdM Check-Out procedures.
- The student is responsible for paying all Housing debts and will be eligible to receive a refund of his/her security deposit 45-days following the end of the academic term.
- Eligibility for security deposit refund will be based on inspection of the apartment at time of Check-Out. LdM reserves the right to withhold the release of transcripts until all debts (if any) are paid.
Spring 2022 HOUSING CANCELLATION POLICY
If an official cancellation notice is received from LdM:
- Any cancellation must be communicated in a written withdrawal form which can be requested. Please remember that once the student arrives in Italy, no refund will be made for any reason whatsoever in the event of a student deciding to cancel, change or vacate an assigned apartment.
- If a student cancels 45 days or MORE prior to the check-in date, the $300 security deposit and $1200 advance of the rent payment will be refunded.
- If a student cancels 44-31 days preceding the check-in date, the student will lose the security deposit (US$300) but will be refunded the $1200 advance of the rent payment.
- 30-11 days preceding the check-in date, the student is liable for the $300 security deposit and $1200 advance of the rent payment.
- If a student cancels 10-0 days preceding the check-in date – or fails to check-in to his or her housing assignment – the student is responsible for the full rental amount of the accommodation and the security deposit for the entire academic term.
- The student will be fully liable for the total housing cost and housing deposit if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LDM before check-in.
