Study Abroad Program Costs 2020-2021

Please note: a $ 300 housing safety deposit is to be added and will be refunded to students after the end of the term if no damages are found to the apartment.Students interested in other housing options should contact [email protected]

The housing rent includes: apartment rent from the check-in date to the check-out date, average utilities (water, gas, electricity, Internet connection) and one apartment cleaning every week (instead of every 2 weeks).

Please note: the housing fee refers to a spot in a single room. In case you have a specific and special request for double occupancy, we kindly ask to contact us per email to evaluate this request together.As usual, all apartments will be located in the historical center, at a walking distance from LdM premises and from the main city highlights and services. Although every apartment is different in size and style, LdM can guarantee a list of standards for all of them.LdM apartments usually house 2-4 students. Students are not permitted to choose their apartment or change apartment-mates. Any apartment-mate request must be specified on the LdM Housing Request Form.

Please note: LdM does not have co-ed apartments. All apartments are NON-SMOKING. They are not all located in the same building but are all within walking distance from the school facilities.The standard apartment bedrooms are single rooms. If a student’s room request cannot be honored due to space limitations, LdM will assign an accommodation according to availability. The rental period begins on Housing Check-In Day and ends on Housing Check-Out Day, as per the rental period stated in this booklet.

LdM Two Italies Housing Includes

• Rent in Florence and Tuscania with fixed check-in and check-out dates
• Repairs not caused by students’ inattentiveness
• Average utilities (water, gas, electricity). Any cost above average consumption will be charged to the students sharing the same apartment and deducted from the housing deposit.
• Internet connection
• During the semester one apartment cleaning every week
• The following transfers:
  • From the Florence airport to Florence
  • From Florence to Tuscania
  • From Tuscania to Rome’s train station, Roma Termini.

LdM Two Italies Housing Does Not Include

• Meals
• Damage(s) caused by students’ inattentiveness
• Extra cleaning (If the apartment is not clean on the specified check-out date, students will be responsible for an additional cleaning charge. The total amount due will then be deducted from the housing deposit.)

Study Abroad Payment Policies 2020 2021

Upon acceptance to LdM, students should expect to pay the following: *

• $500 Initial Program Payment (toward tuition)

PLUS:

• Semester/Academic Year:
  • If requesting student apartment through LdM, $1500 Housing Advance ($300 housing deposit and $1200 advance rent payment)
  • If requesting home stay through LdM, 1000 Euro reservation payment
• Summer/Intersession:
  • If requesting student apartment through LdM, Housing Payment ($300 housing deposit plus full rent for session)**
  • If requesting home stay through LdM, full rent payment in Euro**
• Half of program cost by the application deadline.
• Final half of program cost by the final program payment deadline.

 Note:

• If students apply on or after the application deadline but before the final program payment deadline, they must pay half of the program cost, including any applicable housing payments, upon acceptance to the program.
• If students apply on or after the program payment deadline, they must submit the program cost in full, including any applicable housing payments, upon acceptance to the program.
• All students must submit the Initial Program Payment and Housing Advance (if applicable), but program balances (or a portion thereof) may be paid upon disbursement of financial aid, provided LdM has received both verification of anticipated aid from the home institution and a personal guaranty. (Students requesting home stay through LdM must pay their housing balance in full according to the home stay payment deadline specified, however.)
• Payment plans for semester and academic year programs may be established for a fee of $130. An approved payment plan may extend the final payment deadline to mid-term or earlier specified date.

*This payment schedule applies to students enrolling through LdM Academic Relations + Student Services and may vary according to the billing arrangement with the student’s home institution. Applicants will receive specific payment instructions upon acceptance to the program.

TUITION CANCELLATION POLICY FOR ALL OTHER TERMS

IF AN OFFICIAL CANCELLATION NOTICE IS RECEIVED BY LdM:

• Prior to the 45 days preceding the program start date, the $500 initial tuition payment can be refunded net of bank fees.
• 45-31 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for the $500 initial tuition payment.
• 30-0 days prior to the beginning of the term, the student will be liable for half of the tuition cost.
• If the student withdraws after the start of the program, liability amounts to full tuition and no refund will be made.

The student will be fully liable for the total tuition cost if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before the start of the program

Spring 2021 Housing Cancellation Policy (Standard)

• If a student cancels 45 days or MORE prior to the Housing Check-In date, the $300 security deposit and $1200 advance of the rent payment will be refunded.
• If a student cancels 44-31 days preceding the Housing Check-In date, the student will lose the security deposit (US$300) but will be refunded the $1200 advance of the rent payment.
• 30-11 days preceding the Housing Check-In date, the student is liable for the $300 security deposit and $1200 advance of the rent payment.
• If a student cancels 10-0 days preceding the Housing Check-In date – or fails to check-in to his or her housing assignment – the student is responsible for the full rental amount of the accommodation for the entire academic term.

Housing through LdM is a free service facilitated by LdM through collaboration with local agencies and landlords. LdM does not benefit financially from students securing housing through LdM, nor from any particular cancellation/refund policy.

Spring 2021 Housing Covid Cancellation Policy

• In case of program interruption due to Covid-19 related Institutional and/or Government regulations (at home country or in Italy), or individual cancellation due to documented COVID illness, prior to 8 days to program start, students will be refunded for the housing deposit and full housing cost.
• In case of program interruption due to Covid-19 related Institutional and/or Government regulations (at home country or in Italy), or individual cancellation due to documented COVID illness, from 7 to 1 days to program start, students will be liable for the 25% of the housing cost.
• In case of program interruption due to Covid-19 related Institutional and/or Government regulations (at home country or in Italy) once onsite, with required return to the home country:
  • after the check-in day till the date of ending of the first month: the student is liable for the 50% of the housing cost
  • from the date of beginning till the date of ending of the second month: the student is liable for the 75% of the housing cost
  • from the date of beginning of the third month till the end of the semester: the student is liable for the 100% of the housing cost

Housing through LdM is a free service facilitated by LdM through collaboration with local agencies and landlords. LdM does not benefit financially from students securing housing through LdM, nor from any particular cancellation/refund policy.

Therefore, LdM is not able to guarantee any refund beyond that outlined above. Note: Program interruption referenced herein does not include withdrawal from the on-site program due to individual circumstance.

Spring 2021, Housing Withdrawal Policy:

Students deciding to withdraw from their housing assignment during the academic term remain liable for their total housing cost. When formally withdrawing from LdM Housing during an academic term, however, students are eligible to receive a Housing deposit refund following a checkout inspection of their Housing accommodation. Housing deposit refunds are processed 45-days following the end of the academic term.

• The student will be required to vacate his or her LdM Housing assignment within 24-hours of completing the LdM Withdrawal Form.
• The student is required to follow LdM Check-Out procedures.
• The student is responsible for paying all Housing debts and will be eligible to receive a refund of his/ her Housing deposit 45-days following the end of the academic term.
• Eligibility for Housing deposit refund will be based on inspection of the apartment at time of Check-Out. LdM reserves the right to withhold the release of transcripts until all debts (if any) are paid. Cancellation Policy.

SUMMER 2021 HOUSING CANCELLATION POLICY

IF AN OFFICIAL CANCELLATION NOTICE IS RECEIVED BY LdM *

• If a student cancels 45 days or MORE prior to the Housing Check-In date, the $300 security deposit and full housing rent  will be refunded.
• If a student cancels 30-15 days preceding the Housing Check-In date, the student will lose the $300 security deposit but will be refunded the full housing rent.
• If a student cancels 15-8 days preceding the Housing Check-In date, the student is liable for the $300 security deposit and 50% of the full housing rent  for the accommodation for the entire academic term.
• If a student cancels 7-0 days before Housing Check-In, or fails to check in to his or her assigned LdM Housing, the student will be  liable for $300 security deposit and the  full housing rent.
• The student will be fully liable for the full housing rent and $300 security deposit  if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by LdM before Housing Check-In.

*The LdM Summer 2021  Housing Cancellation Policy allows for a later cancellation than the standard pre-COVID  policy.  Given the costs paid to external housing providers on behalf of the students are non-recoverable, refunds beyond those outlined above are not possible, regardless of reason (including but not limited to those related to COVID

This supplemental international health insurance through GeoBlue is required if the student is not in possession of alternate, comparable coverage. Although it is not included in the Tuition Cost, it is included in the Total Program Cost farther below.
